What distinguishes the copper version
The Ordinary sells both Multi-Peptide + HA and this copper-containing version. Their related names can make them look interchangeable, but the formulas and compatibility instructions differ. This review concerns the 30 mL copper serum, listed at $32 on the US product page when checked. The older name, Buffet + Copper Peptides, may still appear in previous reviews or packaging photographs.
The format is a water-based serum rather than a replacement for every moisturizer. It can occupy a treatment step for someone who already has comfortable basic skincare. Decide whether that extra step has a clear purpose before buying several overlapping peptide bottles.
Reading the peptide list
The current key-ingredient panel identifies Copper Tripeptide-1 alongside acetyl hexapeptide-8, palmitoyl tripeptide-1, palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 and other peptide ingredients. Hyaluronic acid derivatives and amino acids are also part of the formula description. That combination matters because any observed hydration or smoothness belongs to the whole product, not automatically to copper alone.
The 1% in the name is a manufacturer formulation disclosure. It is not a standardized performance grade, and the blue appearance does not let a shopper measure potency. Different complexes, vehicles and directions prevent a simple numerical ranking against a cream bearing a different percentage.
Compatibility is product-specific
The brand advises against using this copper serum together with direct acids, retinoids or strong antioxidants such as vitamin C. That instruction belongs to this formula; it should not be turned into a rule that every peptide product is incompatible with every retinoid. Other manufacturers give different directions for their own formulations.
For an established prescription routine, ask the prescriber how an optional cosmetic fits before rearranging treatment. Alternating routines can add complexity and still does not guarantee tolerance. A serum that forces too many scheduling changes may be a poor practical fit even if the ingredient list is attractive.
What the price does and does not compare
At $32 for 30 mL, the listed purchase price is about $1.07 per milliliter before tax or any delivery charge. That is a useful bottle comparison with other retail serums of known volume. It is not an estimate of the cost of one application, because drop size and personal use differ.
A larger or cheaper bottle is worthwhile only if you use it within its labeled period and tolerate it. Avoid treating an unfamiliar product as a bulk purchase solely because an introductory promotion lowers the unit price. Check the US size selection and current checkout total each time you reorder.
A reasonable assessment plan
The page makes appearance-focused claims involving fine lines, smoothness and firmness. We have not independently reproduced those outcomes. A before-and-after observation in your own routine cannot isolate this serum if you introduce several other treatments simultaneously.
Record the single change you are making and the outcome you care about, whether that is comfort, surface smoothness or how makeup sits. Follow the product directions and stop a cosmetic that causes a reaction. Persistent symptoms need appropriate advice, rather than the assumption that tingling proves the peptides are working.
Useful distinctions
- Identifiable copper and other peptide ingredients
- Transparent US bottle price
- Explicit manufacturer compatibility instructions
Limitations to weigh
- Compatibility advice can complicate retinoid routines
- A serum may still need a separate moisturizer
- No head-to-head superiority established
