Check the plus version before reading older results

Alastin’s current Restorative Skin Complex with TriHex+ adds a version question to the usual peptide-serum comparison. The October 14 listing highlights Octapeptide-45 and magnolol, alongside a broader moisturizing and peptide formula. A review of an earlier Restorative Skin Complex cannot simply be relabeled as evidence for this bottle because most of the name remains familiar.

The direct listing places the 1 fl oz, or 29.6 mL, package at $258. That is about $8.72 per milliliter before other charges. We have not tested the current or preceding preparation. Our task is to identify what is actually disclosed for this version and where the advertised research leaves questions that a substantial purchase would reasonably invite.

A full formula is more useful than a trademark alone

The disclosed ingredients include glycerin, niacinamide, emollients, squalane and ceramides AP and NP, as well as multiple peptides and botanicals. These supporting materials belong in the comparison because the finished serum can moisturize and feel different for reasons beyond a highlighted peptide. The list gives a buyer a basis for checking known sensitivities even when individual concentrations are not supplied.

The magnolol narrative concerns the appearance of plumpness and volume. It does not establish replacement of facial fat or equivalence to an injectable treatment. Similarly, Octapeptide-45’s presence is an ingredient fact; the amount of a structural skin change in an individual buyer is a separate outcome. We do not convert the proprietary TriHex+ name into a numerical potency rating.

Follow the evidence back to its preparation

The page describes 12-week responses concerning hydration, texture and satisfaction, with supporting information held by the company. Those accounts can help frame questions about the product. They do not let us independently inspect every method, participant group and comparator, and a satisfaction percentage is not a direct measurement of collagen production.

Older peptide research may remain relevant as background, but its formula and endpoints must be checked before applying it to a revised serum. A study of a predecessor is not automatically a head-to-head demonstration that TriHex+ performs better. The public information reviewed here does not support ranking this product against every lower-priced peptide option or promising a particular degree of facial-volume change.

The standalone serum is only one possible bill

The $258 package does not automatically include the other steps in a suggested Alastin routine. A cleanser, brightening serum, moisturizer or sunscreen may each require a separate purchase. A bundle discount or replenishment incentive should be evaluated on its own terms, including the total charged and any future shipment commitment. We did not test a checkout or cancellation.

The unit-price calculation helps compare package cost, but it cannot calculate benefit per dollar. Nor does it establish how long the bottle will last for a particular person. Someone who mainly wants a moisturizing step may judge the premium differently from someone deliberately seeking this particular formulation and willing to accept the limits of its comparative evidence.

Returns depend on the reason and channel

Alastin’s direct policy distinguishes an ordinary return for credit from a dissatisfaction return. It describes a 30-day window from receipt, and the dissatisfaction category expressly includes partially used containers purchased directly. Other provisions discuss customer shipping charges and a possible processing or restocking fee. Describing the entire policy simply as free returns would erase those conditions.

Ask which category applies before sending a product back, and keep the receipt and instructions. A purchase from another seller does not automatically use the same process. The AAD’s product-testing guidance also remains useful for a complex formula regardless of price. Our assessment values the current ingredient disclosure while leaving the premium’s comparative benefit unproven; the plus sign identifies a version, not a guaranteed improvement for every buyer.

It is also reasonable to ask whether the cosmetic goal requires adding another step at all. A detailed formula may be attractive, but the evidence reviewed here does not establish that buying a full branded routine is necessary for every reader.
